We are crazy. Certifiable. But happy!

We purchased this 1958 ranch from the original owners and really loved the “bones” of the home. We knew we wanted to change a few things, so we planned a good bit of the remodeling prior to closing the deal.  We hope to stay here forever.

Having remodeled 7 houses, we have some vision. Jeff is especially great at looking at something and coming up with a completely new way to consider it that is simply outstanding!

This project is bigger than any we’ve tackled so far at one time. I mean, we have done projects like kitchen remodels or turning a bedroom into a master bathroom, but nothing this complex or  comprehensive.

We decided it was time to call in the professionals! After interviewing 5 general contractors, we hired  Mike McAllister to run the job and could not be happier. He definitely gets our modus operandi. He listens to what we want. He’s being GREEN in our home renovation which is good for the environment and our pockets by re-using everything he can including moldings, insulation, and framing supplies!

We have divided the projects we want to complete into the following phases:

1. Main living area including kitchen remodel, basement changed into home theater, dining room/family room/living room made into a single living space with vaulted ceiling.  Trim and lighting added where needed.
2. Outside including front entry being reworked to integrate  the bay window that was added at a later time in a more acceptable manner. Landscaping and driveway review.
3. Bathrooms will be remodeled as we find time and money.  They will be getting a face lift during phase 1 with wallpaper removal, paint on walls, lighting and trim as needed, and painting the cabinets.

Stay tuned! It is bound to get very interesting! The move in date is 11/19/2011. I told him I had the entire family coming for Thanksgiving dinner and have to do at least one practice turkey!

P.S. Jeff  just told me that he’s planning on having his office over at Christmas!
