This home has a wall that has two fireplaces. One opens to the living room (which will become our family room) and the other opens on the opposite side to the current family room (which will become our eating area.)
We have changed our plans about the fireplace. We have decided to completely remove the existing fireplace system, and put a new wall with a gas vented fireplace in a different location! The area highlighted in the image below will become one HUGE room! It is approximately 27′ x 29′. Opening the room will allow a view of the pool through the covered porch area from anywhere in that area. Moving the fireplace will allow us to use a single sided fireplace (less expensive) and make furniture placement a bit easier.
Initally, we wanted to have a single see through fireplace similar to the one we saw at Firebird’s Restaurant.
Because we are vaulting the ceiling, we are going to need a beam running the length of the space. We need to decide how to integrate that into the design. Hide it in drywall? Boring… Have a single dark beam across the top? Don’t know. Maybe some of these pictures will help us decide!
